Where did the name come from?
The town now known as Cramerton was originally named Mayesworth in 1906, after John H. Mayes. Mayes was one of the founders of the the Mayes Manufacturing Company, a cotton mill built on the banks of the Catawba River. In 1915, the town name changed to Mayworth. The town would later be purchased by Stuart Warren Cramer and would officially become Cramerton in 1922, later becoming an incorporated town in 1967. In naming our restaurant and pub Mayworth, we pay homage to Cramerton's original founding father.
